On Oct. 21, the American Floorcovering Alliance held their annual Membership Meeting at the Dalton Golf and Country Club. Members and guests were treated to a reception prior to the start of the meeting.

The business items addressed by the membership during the meeting included the re-election of several board members to serve one-year terms. These board members included: Jim Shaheen of Shaheen Carpet Mill, who was elected to serve as president; Don Henson of DyeTech, Inc., who was elected to serve as vice president; Bill Cosby of The Sample Works, who was elected secretary/treasurer; Bucky McCamy of GrassTex Inc.; Greg Brock of Quality Finishing of Georgia, Inc.; Gree Joiner of Gree Joiner, LLC; and Randall Coker of Northwest Carpets Inc. David Pope of BB&T was elected to fill the vacant seat of Sues Alexander from BB&T, and Bruce Elliston was elected to the seat vacated by retiring Carolyn Butler of Carpeton Mills. Current directors who will continue to serve include: Ed Harof of Wilcom America; Lamar Brown of Lessco; and Will Robison of Allied Insurance Agency.

The AFA was proud to announce the addition of COS Business Products & Interiors as a business alliance partner. Al Coleman, general manager of the Dalton office, Kit Henson, Regina Wright and Joy Love provided members with an assortment of free samples as well as a brochure outlining some of the savings and services their company provides. COS also provided door prizes for the meeting.

Several members received awards during the meeting. Carpeton Mills & Marketing Alliance received a 20 year Membership award. Advance Tufting; Ellison, Boshell, Salmon, Tuller, Kelley LLC, and Looptex all received 10 year Membership awards. Gary Dale, GM of Extruded Colors, accepted the Member of the Year award on behalf of Americhem. Don Henson of DyeTech Inc. was named Director of the Year.

The guest speaker for the meeting was Dr. Marilyn Helms of Dalton State College. Russ Cosby, of The Sample Works, and Wayne Mahan, of Burtco were both big door prize winners. Russ won a 27-inch TV with DVD player, and Wayne won a DVD player.
