Herb Wolk CFE has been voted into the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) Industry Hall of Fame. Wolk is the 31st inductee to the Hall of Fame. The sole inductee for 2004, he will be formally admitted to the hall during ceremonies to be held at Surfaces 2004 in Las Vegas.
Wolk is best known as the owner and driving force behind Long Island, N.Y.-based Cadillac Carpet Distributors, which began operations in 1975. His keen sense of merchandizing was honed through experience as a vice president of Allen Carpet, and a 20-year stint as owner and vice president of David's Carpet.
Wolk was one of the founding directors of CarpetMax, a pioneering retail buying group that evolved into a merchandizing group for retailers. Wolk was also active in the Retail Floorcovering Institute (RFI), which later became known as the American Floorcovering Association (AFA). He served as chairman of the board of the AFA at the time of the merger between the AFA and Western Floor Covering Association that created the WFCA in 1995.
