To a sustained standing ovation, the leaders of Carpet One took the stage in Grapevine, Texas, earlier this year and officially began the company's year-long 20th anniversary celebration.

The meeting, held Feb. 10-12, would also be used to launch a number of specific initiatives aimed at addressing the shifting realities of the marketplace. Perhaps most notably, founder and co-chairman, Alan Greenberg observed that quality floor covering is now increasingly seen by many consumers as an "accessible luxury." As a result opportunities in the high-end were growing rapidly. "Consumers are investing in their homes. It is not just a trend or a fad," he told the membership.
