With a vow to “build a beach house and
goof off,” flooring veteran Brian Radditz has announced his retirement after 30
years as president of the distributor Wanke Cascade.
The announcement
comes just over a year after the Canadian distributor Buckwold Western
purchased the 75 year-old Portland Oregon-based Wanke Cascade in a bid to
expand its presence in the U.S.
Radditz, whose
retirement becomes effective June 7th, joined Wanke Cascade in September 1973 immediately
after college. During his long career at the company Radditz “did just about
every job there was at Wanke Cascade, from customer service to branch manager.” In 1977 he was named president and has served
in that position since. He has also
served on the board for the National Association of Floor Covering Distributors
and served on numerous distributor councils and many other boards outside the
industry.
When asked what he plans to do
in the future, he responded “Well, do a little travel, improve my golf game,
build a beach house and goof off…. For a while.”
