Tile and stone installation products maker Laticrete has been honored as Family Business of the Year by the 11-year-old University of Connecticut Family Business Program. The award, which recognizes the best of family-run businesses based in Connecticut, is overseen by a panel of judges made up of business peers, industry experts and members of academia. Nominees are measured based on business success, multi-generational family involvement and notable contributions to the industry and community. All told, nine companies were nominated for the award, with Bethany, Conn.-based Laticrete winning top honors in the Large Business Category.

"Generations of [the Rothberg family] have worked side by side with multi-generational employees for the last 50 years," said David Rothberg, Laticrete''s CEO. Laticrete, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, was founded by Dr. Henry M. Rothberg with his wife and business partner Lillian.
