CFI Master Installer and Armstrong trainer Scott Parks demonstrates installation techniques for flash coving at SDCFCA’s Floor Excellence event in April.

The San Diego County Floor Covering Association recently welcomed more than 150 installers, sales reps and dealers to its “Spring Training for the Flooring Professional.” The annual Floor Excellence educational forum was designed to help members’ brush up their knowledge and skill on a variety of floor coverings. Instructors included the Certified Floorcovering Installers’ CEO Jim Walker, CFI executive director Jon Namba and CFI master installer and Armstrong trainer Scott Parks.

SCFCA past president Gary Bedrosian of the Kuske Co. kicked off the one-day event. “Working together, everyone benefits from a wealth of installation knowledge,” he told the industry professionals on hand. “Success in business is based on skill, attitude and adaptability. Floor Excellence offers lessons that can positively contribute to each of these.”

Jim Walker told attendees he was thrilled by the high level of interest in quality installations. “Flooring installation starts in your heart; you must want to be the best,” he noted. “This industry needs the proud professionals. By attending this outstanding event, it is evident that you care about your work.”

Hands-on demonstrations included a Patterned Carpet Workshop taught by Namba, as well as courses on sheet vinyl installation, coving and wood board replacement overseen by Parks. For more information visit www.sdcfca.com.
