WFCA launches pro website and plans ‘Room Maker' tool
The World Floor Covering Association has launched www.wfca-pro.org, a site targeted to flooring professionals, and updated its consumer website at www.wfca.org. Both WFCA members and the general public can access the professional site, though certain sections are available to members only.
The new ‘pro’ website includes a Member Search for users to locate a wide range of flooring businesses and services and an industry calendar focused on listing “every major and minor event” through the third quarter of 2009. The members only sections include a Document Center offering “information, papers, newsletters and articles for the professional” and a discussion board for users.
On the consumer side, the WFCA will unveil an online “Room Maker” tool at its exhibit at Surfaces. According to Mike Vogel, president and CEO of website design company Creating Your Space, the tools allow consumers to draw up floor plans of their rooms. “Using the Room Maker, a consumer can calculate the total square footage of a room,” Vogel said. “If she knows the estimated cost of the flooring, she can plug that number in and guesstimate the total cost.”
The Room Maker lets consumers pick from pre-selected and custom room shapes, as well as map out the locations of stairs, furniture and appliances on a grid. A list of flooring types, from soft to hard surface, allows for further customization. Finished plans can be saved and printed.
