Remembering Jeff: Industry vet ‘Solly' Gershon starts memorial fund for late son

A veteran of the carpet industry for more than 50 years, Saul “Solly” Gershon said he was greatly comforted by friends in the industry last year after he experienced a personal tragedy. In July 2007, his son Jeff lost his life to a sudden illness at age 42 leaving a wife and two young children. The elder Gershon adds that many of his colleagues in the flooring business have asked if they can offer assistance to Jeff’s wife, Sherri, and their two children: eight year old Garrett and five-year old Victoria. With the help of some friends, a memorial fund has been established. Donations can be sent to: Gershon Educational Memorial Trust Fund, 18190 Andrea Circle North, #2, Northridge, CA 91325
“Jeff was a remarkable young man and we will miss him very much,” said his father, Saul, who worked for Royalweave, Mand Carpet Mills, El Dorado Carpet Mill, Hibernia Woolen Mills and his own companies. “The way people have responded, it really meant so much to me. So many people asked if there is something they can do to help. I though it would be nice to do something for Jeff’s children. He loved them very much.”
