Solutia’s Ultron carpet fibers business has named its judges for the upcoming 2007 Doc Award Competition in New York. Set for Nov. 28, the contest aims to honor outstanding achievement in contract interior and product design. The awards honor not only architects and designers and their projects, but carpet mills for creating aesthetic and durable contract floor coverings using the company’s fiber.

Judges culled from the architecture and design community for this year’s competition include: Lucy Aiken-Johnson, ASID, a principal at ai3 Inc. in Atlanta; Mark Hirons, AIA, IIDA,LEED AP, a principal and director of design and corporate interiors at OWP/P in Chicago; Suzan Lucas Santiago, ASID, IIDA, a principal and director of interiors for Grad Associates P.A. in Newark, N.J.; and Anthony Garrett, IIDA, LEED AP, vp and director of design for interiors at Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum in San Francisco.

“The Doc Award Competition has grown each year, both in quality and quantity of entries,” said Solutia spokeswoman Marianne Cone. “These judges are well qualified to choose the 2007 winners for an award that has become a benchmark for success in the field of interior design.”
