Frank Peters, an industry veteran with experience at companies including Armstrong, Shaw and most recently Mohawk, has been named president of the Mohawk Flooring Division. He will be responsible for residential and commercial sales, marketing, manufacturing and distribution for Mohawk’s complete line of carpets, rugs and hard surface flooring. He succeeds Monte Thornton, who recently announced his retirement after 15 years as a Mohawk executive.

“I’m honored to lead this team of creative individuals to refine our many successful programs and processes and deliver even greater innovation, quality, service and support to our customers,” Peters said. He was most recently vp manufacturing for Mohawk Flooring, and has also held leadership roles with Armstrong and Shaw.

Jeff Lorberbaum, Mohawk’s chairman and CEO said that Peters will help “leverage all of our talents and resources across the enterprise.”

“With Frank’s knowledge of our product line, our customers’ needs and our organization’s assets, he will maximize the value proposition we provide our customers,” he said, adding “Peters has been a catalyst for continuous improvement, innovation and people development to position Mohawk as an industry leader.  His belief in the importance of environmental stewardship helped to expand Mohawk’s commitment to ‘green’ manufacturing.”

Thornton will remain in an advisory role during the transition, the company said.
