Greg Jones

Greg Jones, Mohawk Industries' senior environmental engineer, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Industry Environmental Coalition for 2009. Formed in 1992, the GIEC is a non-profit group of environmentally regulated businesses in Georgia. Its members advocate regulations that are "both protective and cost-efficient."

“It’s an honor to serve on the Board of such a well respected organization,” Jones said.  “I’m looking forward to working with the Board and member representatives on environmental policy issues that could affect Georgia’s industrial sector.”

Mohawk Industries is well-known for its GreenWorks program, which is the umbrella name for the company's wide-ranging green projects and initiatives. Mohawk is one of the largest recyclers in the flooring industry, diverting more than 3 billion pounds of pre- and post-consumer waste from landfills. Additionally, the company annually converts as much as 25 percent of all recycled soft drink bottles sold in North America into carpet fiber.
