Between its residential and commercial divisions, Mannington Mills took home five first place 2009 National Floor Trends Styling Excellence Awards. Not only did Mannington win more awards than any other company this year; it was also the only company to garner more than one first place nod.

“Every year we try to top ourselves,” said Betsy Amoroso, spokeswoman for Mannington. Her company received awards for Corsica (LVT); Urbanite (resilient); and Antiquity (ceramic category). Additionally, the commercial division was recognized for its Adorn Collection (carpet, commercial) and the Edge Collection of wallbase (cove base, mouldings/feature strip).

The contest was voted on by show goers at the recent Surfaces 2009 show in Las Vegas as well as readers online. Award winners receive a special NFT Styling Excellence Awards trophy, as well as the use of the award program’s logo in advertising throughout the year.

Other companies also said they were proud to be singled out. Ken Peden, COO of Kronotex/Formica Flooring, said the award “is a great win for us.” His company was honored for its Bellezza Botticino Classic Dark laminate flooring. “The NFT Styling Excellence Award is our first design award since we restyled the line, so we’re very excited,” he noted.

Jeremy Whipple, marketing manager for Roppe Holding Co., said sister company Flexco was excited to win for its Tuflex Force rubber flooring. “It means something for the Tuflex brand because while it is new to Flexco, Tuflex has over 50 years of brand awareness in the industry. This award proves the Tuflex brand is recognized and respected,” he said. – Michael Chmielecki
