The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has begun drafting the R800 Reference Guide for Carpet Inspection, a process expected to take about 36 months.  The IICRC is seeking industry volunteers to participate on the committee.

“As with each new standard or reference guide the IICRC drafts, we’re looking for professionals who are dedicated to moving this forward,” said Bill Doan of Shaw Industries, IICRC R800 committee chair. The committee will be vice-chaired by Lou Migliori of LGM and Associates, Technical Flooring Services.

The first meeting for the committee is set for Surfaces 2010 in Las Vegas. However, much of the work will also be done online and via conference calls, according to the IICRC. The group said it expects between 12 to 15 voting members on the committee and more than 20 volunteers assigned to specific subcommittees and topics.

Anyone who is directly and materially affected by the carpet inspector reference guide can apply for committee membership. Requests for applications can be submitted to IICRC Standards Consultant Larry Cooper attextilecon@aol.comor IICRC headquarters at (360) 693-5675.
