The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has honored Mannington Commercial with the 2010 Creative Excellence Award for Best Showroom under 2,000 sq. ft., at NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in Chicago. The showroom, located on the 10th floor of the Merchandise Mart in space #1039, was designed by Mannington and Scout Branding of Birmingham, Ala.

“This year’s showroom is a celebration of inspiration, creativity, energy and a love of design. We are delighted and proud that the IIDA panel of judges are honoring the space with this award,” said Natalie Jones, Mannington's vp commercial brand development and creative product.

Featured carpets in the showroom include the large-scale graphics of the Sylvan Collection of carpet and the organic patterns of the Monarch Collection. Hard surfaces include Earthly Elements, engineered hardwood in unique plank and square formats, and a conceptual installation of BioSpec MD, an anti-microbial homogeneous sheet for critical care areas in healthcare settings.

The vivid pink and oversized text at the far end of the space encourage visitors to vote in Mannington’s sophomore tx:style design challenge, in which show goers can vote on patterns from seven interior designers, each with less than seven years of experience. Two designers will see their patterns launched as Mannington Commercial hard and soft surface flooring.

The IIDA Showroom Competition, co-sponsored withContract Magazine, is now in its 15th year. Judging criteria included visual impact, outstanding creativity, effective use of materials, space, and color and texture. The showroom judging panels were made up of practicing design professionals and IIDA members from around the country.
