Tile of Spain has partnered with the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) by funding the Spanish translation of the CTEF Field Manual for Thin-bed Installation of Ceramic Tile, the study guide of the Certified Tile Installer (CTI) program. The growth of the certification program and the number of Spanish speaking installers participating has necessitated having the study guide available in Spanish. Tile of Spain took the initiative to provide the translated version to better equip installers in the home-study process prior to taking the test.

The official release of the Spanish version of the CTI Manual will take place at the noon on April 28 at Coverings in Orlando, FL. Dignitaries from Tile of Spain will be on hand to officially present the Spanish version to Scott Carothers, Executive Director of CTEF, during a press conference in the Tile of Spain Pavilion.

The Certified Tile Installer (CTI) program is a comprehensive testing of the skills and knowledge of experienced tile installers which includes an extensive hands-on test and a 155-question, multiple choice written exam. Both tests are based on the current industry accepted standards and best practices for producing a quality installation that exhibits good workmanship of both what is seen as well as what is not seen.

The CTI program is provided through the CTEF and is held at regional warehouses throughout the United States. These on-site locations better serve the installer’s need to be close to home which eliminates most travel and hotel costs and also minimizes the time away from the jobsite.
