Armstrong to close Montreal manufacturing plant
Armstrong World
Industries Inc. says is permanently closing its idled Montreal, Canada, floor
manufacturing facility in December due to market conditions.
About 170 employees were laid off in May when the Lancaster, Pa.,-based flooring and tiling manufacturer stopped production at its only Canadian facility. The decision to close the plant after 64 years of operation will affect another seven workers, the company notes.
The Montreal plant has manufactured residential and commercial flooring vinyl tiles since 1946.
Armstrong also announced plans to close a flooring plant in Centre, Texas in early December.
