Ribadao acquires part of BR-111 in new partnership
Flooring mill Ribadao - Industria de Madeiras S.A. of Portugal is acquiring a portion of BR-111's exotic hardwood flooring business, and in exchange will "substantially increase its support in the BR-111 supply chain including flooring product, lumber acquisition and quality control," BR-111 said. Financial terms were disclosed.
"This new partnership with Ribadao gives us access to world-class production capabilities from one of the largest flooring producers in Europe," said Ricardo Moraes, BR-111 president. "Known for its consistency in lumber selection, precision milling and flawless finishing, Ribadao offers the highest quality hardwood flooring."
Ribadao is fully FSC, Carb and CE compliant as well as certified ISO 9001 by the Institute of European Accreditation. With company-owned forests of approximately 700,000 acres, Ribadao's production capacity is more than 1.5 million sq. ft. of flooring per month. Ribadao is also one of the largest producers of African flooring species in the world, including Wenge, Sapele, Iroko and Afzelia.
Starting this summer, many new BR-111 products will be introduced that take advantage of the partnership, including some species "never seen here in the States as well as some beautiful updates to select old favorites," Moraes noted. The first new products will include 1/2" by 5" engineered Wenge and a darkened cherry product called Havana Cherry. They will debut at an MSRP of $7.99/sq. ft. and $5.99/sq. ft. respectively, according to Moraes.
All of Ribadao's flooring production takes place in one of three flooring mills located throughout Europe. The company also maintains offices in South America, Australia, Africa and Asia.
