NSF International has opened a new office in Germany that will offer services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Located in Oberursel (Frankfurt), NSF Germany provides management systems registrations, certification and sustainability programs to the auto, aerospace, metal, chemical, plastics, information technology, food, water, environmental and occupational health and safety industries, among others in EMEA.

NSF International Strategic Registrations, Ltd. (NSF-ISR) has appointed Fred Wenke as Managing Director of the newly established NSF Deutschland GmbH office. A global environmental and management systems expert, he also will serve as Regional Director of Management System Registration (ISO) and Sustainability services, providing regional support for NSF's existing customer base in Europe.

"Fred's business expertise in the system certification industry will help expand NSF's management systems certification operations in the EMEA region," said NSF International Vice President Koen Bontinck. "Fred will be the regional contact for our growing number of North American-based global key accounts. Having a regional hub near Frankfurt in Germany is an important step forward for NSF's global footprint and will help improve our regional service delivery."

Wenke has a proven track record in growing business in Europe and the Middle East and 25 years of experience in environmental engineering, quality management and HSE (health, safety and environmental) management systems, according to the company.

Prior to joining NSF, Wenke served as Manager for Sustainability Business Development for DQS GmbH, Frankfurt, executing business planning, marketing and sales and product development for energy management, sustainable biomass and corporate social responsibility programs. He also served as product manager for ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) and OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety) worldwide for DQS.

Wenke is a lead auditor and trainer for ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. He is a member of the German Association for Standardization's (DIN) mirror committees to help develop international standards such as ISO 14067 (Carbon Footprint of Products) and the revision of ISO 14001.

Wenke has lectured on management systems at universities and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and trade fairs. He holds a technical degree in ecology and pollution control and a chemical engineering degree in wastewater treatment and water chemistry from Niederrhein University in Krefeld, Germany.

Wenke will focus primarily on management systems registration and sustainability services, but the new NSF office in Germany also will offer testing and certification solutions to the bottled water, beverage and packed ice, water treatment and food industries among others.
