NWFA 2012 Community Service Award Winners.

The National Wood Flooring Association announced its 2012 Community Service Award recipients during its Wood Flooring Expo in Orlando, Fla. The awards were announced during an Awards Luncheon, which took place on Thursday, April 12. NWFA Community Service Awards are presented to companies that perform volunteer work for charitable organizations.

This past year, 11 NWFA member companies found the time, the means, and the compassion to give to others. These companies participated in a variety of projects. Several companies donated time and materials to the installation of wood floors for missionaries, a disabled veteran, a widow and her family, new homes in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, and a group home for mentally challenged men, as well as the refinishing of a historic chapel floor, a Boy Scouts’ ranger’s cabin, and a cancer support center.

Companies also participated in fundraising and volunteer efforts in the community for the American Heart Association, animal rescue, neighborhood beautification, and juvenile diabetes awareness. Other projects included donating holiday gifts and materials for wooden toys and woodworking classes.
