Mohawk and 3M Scotchgard have a new spokesperson: Pig-Pen, the classic Charles Schulz Peanuts character that is always depicted standing in a cloud of dust. The partnership, which will feature Pig-Pen on materials in-store, online and in marketing and advertising, was announced during the Mohawk Solutions 2011 conference in Nashville last week.
"This partnership combines the power of Scotchgard with an icon of the struggle that consumers have living with mess-makers," David Duncan, Mohawk svp marketing, told a sold-out crowd at the convention. "Pig-Pen and Scotchgard are a classic problem-solution dynamic." Pig-Pen signage and materials will represent both hard and soft surface Mohawk products that contain 3M Scotchgard Protector Advanced Repel Technology.
Retailers at the convention were happy to add Pig-Pen to their arsenal of sales tools. Mike DiCorte, owner of Advanced Carpet and Interiors of Waco, Texas, noted, "If you can clean Pig-Pen, you can clean anything."-Michael Chmielecki
