Card-Monroe Corp. (CMC) announced that it has received US and International Patents for its ColorPoint Tufting Machine. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued U.S. Patent No. 8,141,505; the company also received European Patent No. EP 2 100 994, and Turkish Patent No. TR 2011 06842 T4; in addition, other patents are pending.

According to company president Charles F. Monroe, CMC has now received an impressive total of 93 U.S. patents relating to tufting machines and tufting technology. “We are particularly pleased with this latest Patent covering our ColorPoint technology. The advantages and benefits that this tufting machine brings to the carpet and rug industries are significant. We are glad to see our investments in research and development protected by both US and International Patents.”

Using ColorPoint, carpet manufacturers now have the ability to make Axminster type designs in never seen before tufted constructions, according to the company. ColorPoint can tuft up to six (or more) colors and produce multiple pile heights and textures with single-stitch pinpoint accuracy.

CMC also announced that it was honored at the Manufacturing Leadership Summit earlier this month as a Top One Hundred Innovative Enterprise. The company was lauded for its accelerated product innovations through collaboration with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders; the deployment of advanced technologies; and positive impact in its markets. The ColorPoint Tufting Machine was the focus of this award.
