With the release of the Company’s third annual sustainability report, Mohawk reinforces its commitment to each of these groups while maintaining excellence in consistency, transparency and accuracy in reporting. Since the inception of its formal sustainability reports, Mohawk has adhered to the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines and its data has been verified by an independent auditing firm. This year’s report meets GRI’s requirement for a B+ application level, which places Mohawk among the leaders in transparency of reporting sustainable practices.

Mohawk’s new interactive report, available exclusively online at www.mohawksustainability.com, highlights the Company’s inspiration in identifying and implementing sustainable and innovative solutions that drive successes in each area of the global business.

“As our Company grows and our sustainable practices evolve, I am inspired by our people’s dedication to reducing our environmental impact by creating innovative products for our customers in more sustainable ways,” said Jeff Lorberbaum, Chairman and CEO of Mohawk Industries. “We continue to generate value for our stakeholders and our customers by investing significantly in our people, our products and our communities.”

“Sustainability and social responsibility are built into the culture here at Mohawk,” said William Kilbride, Chief Sustainability Officer at Mohawk, “and they guide the way we do business. Our goal is for everyone connected to our organization to benefit from our sustainable practices.”

“We’ve been committed to sustainability for many years,” noted Kilbride, “but our annual sustainability report tells our story in a comprehensive manner that helps our customers and other stakeholders to better understand the positive impact that our practices have for them. We’re proud of the value our sustainable practices deliver for the business and for our customers and stakeholders.”

In addition to reporting on Mohawk’s sustainability progress, this year’s report represents a new level of transparency.

“We are dedicated to integrity and open communication with all of our stakeholders,” said Jenny Cross, Director of Global Sustainability at Mohawk, “which is why we have always used an independent auditor to verify the accuracy of information before we release the report. By offering a carefully vetted, comprehensive document that follows GRI guidelines, Mohawk continues to demonstrate its commitment to a meaningful and accurate assessment of its operations and practices.”

For the third year in a row, the Sustainability team at Mohawk has enlisted highly regarded FIRA as its report assurance provider. Headquartered in the Netherlands, FIRA is a global company that ensures that all sustainability data and claims are analyzed and validated.

“Using GRI standards to report the progress we’ve made in our sustainable practices ensures that our organization is measuring and documenting its practices in a manner consistent with global best practices,” stated Cross. “Our sustainability story never ends. As everyone will see in this year’s report, we are continually doing more: investing significantly in our people, expanding our sustainable product portfolio and reducing our environmental impact.”
