The National Association of Home Builders will present its annual Educator of the Year awards to individuals who have excelled in teaching NAHB education courses to builders, remodelers and other industry professionals.

"The educators being honored are being recognized for their dedication and longstanding commitment to elevating the home building industry through education," said Gaye Orr, CMP, MIRM, chair of the NAHB Education Committee and a sales and marketing professional from Raleigh, N.C. "By sharing their expertise as instructors and serving as mentors, they have made it possible for builders, remodelers and others in the industry to better serve the needs of their clients, bringing them the latest information and training available."

NAHB offers more than 40 educational courses and 13 professional designations tailored for the specific needs of builders, remodelers and other industry professionals. The courses focus on practical training for both newcomers and veterans, with ideas and strategies that can be applied for everyday use in the student's respective field of business. In order to become an instructor, individuals are approved based on their industry experience and knowledge. They also must have earned the relevant NAHB designation for the courses they plan to teach.

"NAHB's Educators of the Year do more than teach classes. They inspire their students by sharing their personal experiences in the classroom and giving them new tools to be successful," Orr said. "They also motivate them to reach the next stage of their careers by encouraging them to earn an NAHB professional designation."

The Educators of the Year will be recognized on Jan. 21 at the Designation Achievement Reception prior to the 2013 International Builders' Show in Las Vegas. IBS is the largest light construction exposition in the world and is expected to play host to 50,000 home builders, remodelers, developers, architects and suppliers to the home building industry. The show takes place Jan. 22-24 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For additional information and to register, visit www.buildersshow.com.
