Armstrong’s New MIDTOWN Collection Delivers Style, Durability & Easy Care

April 24, 2013

Armstrong Floor Products introduces MIDTOWN, a hardwood floor that has the stability of an engineered floor and the enhanced impact resistance.

The Midtown collection features 5-inch wide Oak, Maple and Walnut planks with a low gloss that enhances the wood’s natural characteristics. Retailers can choose from eight stocked contemporary designer colors plus a limitless number of custom* options, including  variety of species, colors, textures and finishes to create a custom floor that complements any design project. Midtown is made in the USA and offers a 25-year Residential, three-year Commercial warranty backed by Armstrong.

Midtown’s unique construction produces a floor that offers the rich, grain patterns of a true solid wood, with a high-density fiberboard (HDF) core beneath its surface.  Armstrong’s Eco-Certified Composite (ECC) cores are locally-sourced fiber and recycled, recovered or post-consumer fiber content to provide enhanced performance and significantly improved dent resistance.

This core is designed to solve many of the issues that come with using traditional wood floors. An HDF core, usually present in non-wood laminate floors, provides an ultra-dense core that in fact, gives engineered MIDTOWN wood flooring the highest moisture resistance possible in a genuine wood floor. With this unique structure, wood’s typical vulnerabilities to humidity are reduced greatly – ultimately resulting in a floor that will maintain its shape for longer. Additionally, the density of the core results in a floor that can be up to twice as hard, helping to reduce dents and bruises.

Instead of nailing the solid wood flooring to a subfloor, engineered floors with HDF cores can be installed directly over concrete and either clicked or glued into place. Armstrong’s Lock&Fold installation saves the installer time; you simply insert the tongue of one board into the groove of another and gently push down until the pieces lock into place. This simple two-step process provides a tight and secure fit between boards.

By combining Armstrong’s’ micro veneer technology and the ECC Certified core the product improves impact resistance.  Armstrong’s proprietary ceramic infused coating provides a unique high-wear resistant coating.

Armstrong’s Summit Adhesive is recommended for use with MIDTOWN. An all-in-one productsolution for all hardwood and laminate floors, it  is a sound diminisher – it exceeds IIC & STC requirements – and it creates a moisture barrier to protect flooring and provides a crack membrane up to 1/8”*suppression. It is a low-VOC product, with no residual odor and contains no solvents, water, isocyanates or hazardous ingredients.

* Minimum order required for custom orders; as well as lead time required. Ask your Armstrong distributor for details.
