Süddekor announced today that the company has been sold to the Surteco Group, specialists for surface technologies.

Süddekor is a subsidiary of the international 2D-Group based in Laichingen, Germany, with two local locations in Agawam and East Longmeadow. The two companies reached an agreement today that will allow Surteco to acquire all shares of Süddekor Group companies, including those located in North America. Süddekor also operates sites in Germany and Russia.

Joe Hoelzer, President & CEO of Süddekor said the agreement will strengthen the company’s international position, in turn having a positive effect on its future as a whole.

“This is extremely good news for the companies of the Süddekor Group, and for its employees,” he said. “With this purchase, Süddekor now belongs to a strong corporate group, and the acquisition will serve to expand Surteco’s product portfolio.”

Süddekor is currently the only company to offer North American laminate manufacturers a complete design service, from scanning and separations to cylinder engraving, printing and treating. Its North American operations began in 2000 in Agawam, followed by the construction of a second plant in East Longmeadow in 2004, and the acquisition of a third plant in Biscoe, N.C. in 2008.
