Koster American has officially broken ground on its new production facility in Virginia Beach, Va.

The production facility is part of a four phase project that Koster is implementing in order to establish production capabilities in Virginia Beach at its North American headquarters. The products that will be produced at this facility are intended for the North American market. In the future, the middle and South American markets may also be served from the company's Virginia Beach location.

"Koster has been a great corporate partner over the past 20 years," said Warren Harris, director of Virginia Beach Economic Development. "We are pleased the company has found success to launch distribution to North America through this Virginia Beach location. We anticipate growth and success will only continue."

In his congratulatory speech, Mayor William Sessoms noted that Koster  is part of the international product manufacturing group Koster Bauchemie AG, headquartered in Aurich, Germany, and serves as the central location for distribution of superior construction materials to North America. He also remarked of Koster's distinguished project references, from the Olympic Hall in Beijing to the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas.

This begins the next phase of Koster's growing footprint in the Oceana South Industrial Park. The 12,000 square foot product facility will be part of the company's projected 50,000 square-foot headquarter manufacturing operation.
