Douglas Gastich has joined BlueVolt, learning management system (LMS) for businesses in the service and manufacturing industries, as president and general manager.

In his new position, Gastich is responsible for driving the continued growth of the company and managing the day-to-day operations. He succeeds outgoing president, Don Spear, who remains at BlueVolt as chairman.

“Doug has the energy, passion and deep expertise in learning technology that will leverage and accelerate the growth we’ve had since starting BlueVolt 12 years ago,” said Spear. “BlueVolt experienced unprecedented business growth last year through the addition of new customers and increased course completions. Doug’s leadership ensures continued success for BlueVolt and for our customers.”

Gastich brings to BlueVolt more than 15 years of experience with service and agency companies, software product companies, and digital educational platforms. He most recently served as vice president of business development and strategy at Portland-based Learning.com, a learning platform that provides digital literacy content for the K-12 space. 

“I am excited to be back in the corporate learning space and BlueVolt is at the forefront," said Gastich. "Leading manufacturers and service organizations are increasingly relying on eLearning to train their people. I see an incredible amount of potential for online learning as the economy recovers and millennials replace retiring baby boomers in the workforce.” 

Gastich holds a Bachelor of Arts in studio art and computer science from Boston College, and is a member of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network and the Northwest Education Cluster. He also serves as a board member of GLOBIO, a nonprofit focused on connecting children across the world on topics of biodiversity.
