Floor covering distributor, Centura Tile used TEC products to achieve its corporate headquarters and showroom design.

Established in 1933, Centura offers all types of tile and floor covering products, as well as a complete range of accessories and tools in 14 locations across Canada. Each location has full showroom and warehousing facilities – designed to give Centura patrons the optimum in customer service.

The Toronto facility opened in November 2013 and includes a showroom, offices and an all-new tool room. According to the company, Centura trusted that a wide range of TEC products would help them create a highly functional and beautiful space to showcase their products and embody their values.

As the exclusive TEC products distributor in Canada, Centura used TEC products to achieve an elegant design in the nearly 10,000-square-foot space.

TEC Uncoupling Membrane Mortar was used in conjunction with Schluter -Ditra-XL uncoupling membrane to install technical and double-pressed porcelain tile in the showroom and throughout the facility. This mortar – endorsed by Schluter-Systems – was developed specifically for use with Schluter-Ditra and Schluter-Kerdi systems. In the Centura showroom, it was used with large tile in a medium bed application. TEC Uncoupling Membrane Mortar helped installers create a smooth floor that provides a neutral platform for the company’s products and other design elements – including a living wall integrated with green plants.

Large-format wall tile in the showroom, foyer and restrooms was installed with TEC Ultimate Large Tile Mortar. This product’s medium-bed characteristics helped installers address the requirements of large-format tile. Selecting the right setting materials for this increasingly popular product helped Centura successfully execute a design that embodies the latest design trends, according to the company.

Centura also specified TEC Power Grout Ultimate Performance Grout for the installation. Tile contractor Upper Deck Flooring, Bolton, ON, used the Power Grout product for the first time while working on this project at Centura.

Upper Deck Flooring used 10 of the 32 available Power Grout product colors. The diversity of color offerings allowed the use of Power Grout product in a variety of grouted spaces. At Centura, it accents stately large format tile installations, stylish digital porcelain floors and even ornate mosaics, which were installed with TEC Sturdi Flex Latex Modified Thin Set Mortar.

Centura also relied on a TEC adhesive to install vinyl flooring in their all-new tool room. The Toronto facility is the first Centura location to feature a tool room, and installers used TEC 744 Solid Vinyl and Rubber Adhesive to install vinyl tile in the space. A zero-VOC product,TEC 744 adhesive spreads easily for efficient installation, has resistance to moisture and is low odor, making it ideal for busy commercial spaces like the Centura tool room, according to the company.
