Novalis Innovative Flooring has added the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) to its portfolio of sustainability efforts. Two separate EPDs were independently certified by Underwriter Laboratories (UL)—one for Novalis glue-down luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and the other for Novalis click LVT.
Novalis Adds Environmental Product Declaration
January 5, 2015
According to John Wu, president and CEO of Novalis, this latest acknowledgement is the culmination of over a year of hard work. “EPD certification requires complete transparency regarding raw materials, production, packaging, distribution, end-use and disposal. It also looks at our commitment to sustainability and determination to strive for the highest quality standards in everything we do. That’s why the EPD certification is so meaningful to our company and our customers."
EPD is an international reporting declaration that, according to UL, helps “architects, designers, specifiers, and other purchasers better understand a product’s sustainable qualities and environmental repercussions.”
According to Wu, the company is the only China-based LVT maker with EPD certification, as well as HPD and Declare product labeling. “Our luxury vinyl flooring product is not only good for business, it’s good for our planet."
Recently, Novalis announced completion of its voluntary disclosure to the Health Product Declaration (HPD) Collaborative and adoption of the Declare product label through the Living Building Council that details everything in its products.
