Division 9 Flooring, a specialty flooring contractor, recently donated carpet, padding and installation to Rebuilding Together, an agency that provides low income home owners with critical home repair and upgrades.
"Supporting our community is an essential goal of Division 9's corporate stewardship commitment," said Melissa Rossi, Division 9's CFO. "This project was particularly rewarding for us, as an opportunity to both improve the health and human safety, and preserve the historic character, of a classic Seattle residence."
The project is part of Paint The Town Blue, a program that Turner Construction employees participate in yearly. Paint The Town Blue program benefits many different agencies in addition to Rebuilding Together, including Fare Start, Ronald McDonald House, First Tee, Immanuel Community Services, White Center Food Bank and Ballard Food Bank.
The Montlake Rebuilding Together project home belonged to a woman named Louise who has lived there for 50 years. She was unable to manage upkeep on her home and the stairs were in rough shape.
“Over time, the carpet on her front steps had become worn, moss-ridden and slippery," said Jonelle Tuffs, Turner Construction's MEP engineer. "Division 9 and Turner Construction teamed up to outfit and install new carpeting on the stairs inside and outside of Louise’s home."
