Louis De Poortere, Belgian weaver of high-end wool carpet, runners and area rugs, is implementing a much reduced price list and revised procedures starting Aug. 15.

“We are back,” says Terry Flamant, vice president, sales for America. “The declining euro has given us an opportunity to show our American dealers and customers how much their business means to us. We have also returned to our roots and will now ship all carpets from Dalton like most good American carpet companies.”

As a consequence, some carpet and runner prices have been reduced by as much as 35%. “We are not sacrificing quality in any way. Shipping from north Georgia enables Louis de Poortere to take advantage of the superior network of trucking operators specialized in handling fine carpet rolls around the country,” he said.

Louis De Poortere runners and rugs will still be drop-shipped anywhere in America via UPS within five days.

“Designers and dealers love Louis De Poortere wool runners. We have created the category in America and intend to reclaim progressively the leading position in this narrow field. Our focus has been to reduce the price of runners by over 30% across the range of over 500 SKUs in five different widths,” Flamant explained.

The company’s Vintage rugs, a trendy collection of flat woven cotton and wool in 650 SKUs are a hit with flooring dealers, furniture stores and catalog/online retail customers, according to Flamant. “Millennials are very attracted to these rugs, which are available in nine sizes and ideal for loft style interiors. Millennials expect instant gratification and that is why Louis De Poortere uses UPS Air to drop-ship these successful rugs anywhere in the U.S. within two to five days."

With its much reduced pricing and improved process and deliveries, Louis De Poortere is determined to offer more than style and quality. “We are the quintessential vertically integrated European weaver. We also want to offer the best value prices among quality mills in America. This dramatic price reduction is a first step toward rewarding our current customers’ loyalty and regaining the attention of our other traditional customers,” concluded Flamant.
