After leaving restaurant management in his 30s to seek stability and better work-life balance, Edgar Diaz, IUPAT Journeyperson Floor Coverer, discovered that joining IUPAT not only provided the secure career he needed as a parent but also opened doors to a variety of leadership roles.

The Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) welcomed trainers from the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) to their Dalton, Georgia, headquarters for a three-day train-the-trainer event on February 25-27. Participants focused on mastering hand-sewing techniques for custom stair carpet installation and repairs.

Matt Bowles of Cre8tive Flooring in the United Kingdom and Allen Lewis of Eagle Interiors in Alabama claimed victory in luxury vinyl plank and carpet installation categories, respectively, at TISE's prestigious competition. Judges praised the exceptional skill level of all competitors, with winners taking home $3,000 and the championship belt.

IUPAT crowned its 2025 Apprentice Champion at The International Surface Event, where four apprentices competed to showcase their skills in the annual competition.

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) is hosting its Apprenticeship Competition, a hands-on challenge designed to showcase their floorcovering apprenticeship training program, during The International Surface Event taking place January 28-30 in booth 3437.

The one-week carpet training will take place April 22-26, 2024, at the International Union of Painters of Allied Trades facility in Henderson, Nevada.
