Driving Floors Up the Wall: Product Spotlight

Flooring planks aren’t only setting the foundation for comfort and design under foot. These days, manufacturers are producing flooring that can also be used to add texture and unique design to walls and even ceilings. Take a look at a few of the floor-to-wall covering products (and some that are inspired by the trend) that are leading the way vertically.

Raw series from Anderson Tuftex

The Raw series from Anderson Tuftex is meant to highlight the flawless detail of real wood grain—raw, like it just came off the tree. Anderson Tuftex’s artisans use an oxidation process to capture the transitions that naturally occur when wood is exposed to the elements. This process creates truly unique color and detail in either a light, medium or dark finish, fit for floors and walls.

Armstrong's Alterna engineered tile

Armstrong Flooring’s Alterna engineered tile offers a great way to achieve the look of natural wood, stone, ceramic or slate on walls. Whether it be used as a decorative backsplash, accent wall or other focal point, Alterna offers a range of styles, from the classic elegance of travertine or marble to the modern sleekness of concrete or linen. With a durable engineered construction, Alterna looks and feels like natural stone because it’s constructed from 75% limestone.

Prestige from Ceramica Fioranese

Several Ceramics of Italy collections can be used on both floors and walls. Prestige from Ceramica Fioranese dramatizes marble-effect tiles by introducing unexpected formats and patterns for a bold, modern design solution. This collection offers classic, weave and hexagonal mosaic options, as well as large-format pieces with geometric patterns, with six effects available in both floor and wall tiles.

Refined Side from Emily Morrow Home

“In the past three or four years we have witnessed a resurgence of wood finishes working their way from the floors to the walls and even ceilings,” said Emily Morrow Finkell of Emily Morrow Home. “Adding elements with character and warmth into interiors has become not just a trend but a major design movement.” Featuring subtle shades of gray that are warmed by the underlying beauty of its sliced, white oak face, Emily Morrow Home’s Refined Side is just that, refined and smooth to the touch, while at the same time offering a dimensional richness for floors and walls.

DuChateau's Heritage Timber Collection

Providing a vintage look, Duchateau’s Heritage Timber Collection is inspired by reclaimed building materials, with distressed surface scrapes, nail holes, notches and saw marks that bring salvaged textures to mind.

Havwoods' Vertical collection

Known for its innovation and expertise in hardwood flooring, Havwoods has added a change of direction to its offering, taking its latest products vertical. The company’s Vertical collection is a visually diverse collection that has been designed for use as paneling on walls, ceilings and other features. Vertical comprises of new and reclaimed planks, both solid and engineered. It also includes a collection of interlocking panels which offer an easy way to create a stunning feature with mosaics of reclaimed wood bonded in intricate patterns to large backing sheets.

Mannington's Carriage Oak Herringbone

For ease of installation, Mannington has launched Triple Stick adhesive, which is ideal for installing the company’s engineered hardwoods, like Carriage Oak Herringbone, and laminate floors on the wall. “Although engineered hardwood and laminate is more commonly used for flooring, one of the latest trends is to install it on your wall,” said Allison Bromwell, marketing communications and automation manager. “Hardwood and laminate flooring applied to walls gives a room a warm, luxurious atmosphere or can create a unique focal point for your room. Wainscoting, diagonals, borders, or patterns can give a wide range of design effects.”

Metroflor's Vercade Wall Fashion plank and tile wall accent collection

The Verçade Wall Fashion plank and tile wall accent collection from Metroflor is helping flooring dealers expand their retail offering. Comprised of authentic visuals in vinyl composite planks and tiles, Verçade offers the high-end style and drama of natural stone and hardwood for interior walls. The collection’s palette is neutral yet versatile, intended to work with a wide range of interior paint colors so it becomes an accent with a long life that works well in both residential and commercial settings.

COREtec Grande Collection

From USFloors’ industry-leading COREtec offering, Grande Collection has gone to great lengths, 9’ 2” in fact, to create a rustic, seemingly ancient and awe-inspiring floor that can also be applied to walls. An impressive 10 1 ⁄4” width adds further emphasis to a singularly unambiguous floor, bold in its beauty and design. Castle Combe Grande is a magnificent blend of hand craftsmanship, technology and grand scale.
