As the race to recruit, train and retain the next generation of flooring installers gains momentum, another organization has stepped up to answer the call in their area. On October 10, 2022, the Kentuckian Floor Covering Education Committee (KFCEC) kicked off its first official floor covering education course.
The third regional installation competition in San Leandro, California was held at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) training facility where ten flooring installers competed in either the wood or carpet category for a chance at the National Installer of the Year title which will take place during The International Surface Event (TISE) in Las Vegas.

For nearly 30 years, Daris and Karen Mulkin devoted their lives to training the next generations of flooring installers. In honor of their many years of service, CFI inducted the beloved couple into the Hall of Fame at this year’s CFI Convention in Orlando, Florida.
The fundraiser, which offers financial assistance to flooring installers and their families who has fallen on hard times, will take place September 3, 2022, at the Riverbend Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and has raised $400,000 to date.
