No employer likes to hear that they're losing an asset to their team, but when former Karndean Designflooring Distribution Sales Representative Steve White announced he would be leaving the company to work as a missionary in the Philippines, Karndean offered nothing but encouragement. After learning more about the mission with which White would be working, the company decided to offer more than just words of support; through their "Jeans for a Buck!" corporate promotion, Karndean was able to offer financial support. From March through June, employees at Karndean Designflooring corporate offices were able to wear jeans to work as thanks for supporting the mission.

White works with the Boraca and Panay Mission, a part of First Love International Ministries, which is an interdenominational mission agency founded for the purpose of bringing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to people residing in impoverished regions of the world. Some of First Love's ministries include free medical clinics, micro-enterprise and livelihood projects, HIV/AIDS education and care, and theological education. Part of White's mission is to participate in and support the weekly feeding programs throughout six different villages on the island of Boracay. According to White, the gift from Karndean Designflooring is enough to feed two-dozen children for nearly a year.

"We felt it was a simple gesture that could have a big impact on Steve's work," said Bill Anderson, COO.

"I am blessed beyond words," White said. "I most certainly miss my colleagues and working in the industry; however, I am experiencing things I never imagined before. You are all making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate on the opposite side of the world."
