Floor Coverings International Announces Executive Changes

Floor Coverings International (FCI), a mobile flooring franchise based in Atlanta, Georgia, has announced changes to its executive team as part of an aggressive growth strategy.
The company has appointed Hayden Shaw as director of franchise development and promoted four existing team members to key leadership positions. Albert Hermans has been elevated to Chief Development Officer, Grant Carter to divisional vice president – startup, Katie Pynnonen to senior director of brand marketing, and Joe Benincasa to divisional senior director of operations.
These strategic appointments come at a time of record-breaking growth for the company, which recently secured the top position in the flooring category on Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 ranking. FCI has set an ambitious target of reaching 340 operating franchisees by the end of 2025 and has already signed 14 new franchise agreements this year.
"FCI is constantly evolving as we scale to maintain our position as the leading flooring franchise in North America," said FCI CEO Tom Wood. "Promoting Albert, Grant, Katie, and Joe, and bringing Hayden on were strategic decisions to strengthen our leadership team and provide experienced guidance across the system."
Each executive brings significant experience to their new role. Hermans has been with FCI since 2015, beginning in operations before transitioning to franchise development in 2020. Carter joined in 2023 and now leads the Startup team providing training and operational support to new franchise owners.
Shaw comes to FCI with a background in franchise development marketing and sales, most recently with Authority Brands. Pynnonen, who started with the company in 2017, will oversee integrated marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and support network growth. Benincasa, who joined in 2019 after management roles at Lowe's and Micro Center, will oversee franchisee operations.
The company's business model focuses on in-home experiences with mobile showrooms, offering an investment opportunity ranging from $183,000 to $247,000. According to FCI's Franchise Disclosure Document, the top 50 percent of operators generated $1.6 million in average revenue in 2024, with the top 10 percent grossing $3.1 million in average unit volume.
