The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA | KBIS) and High Point Market Authority (HPMA) announced a strategic alliance, marking a convergence of the kitchen and bath sector with the broader furnishings industry.
The partnership aims to enhance service to the design community through custom experiences, brand connections, and industry education, reflecting the growing trend of kitchen and bath design expanding its influence throughout the entire home.
"Our partnership with High Point Market Authority represents a powerful alignment between two organizations committed to inspiring, empowering, and supporting the interior design community," said Bill Darcy, global president and CEO of NKBA | KBIS. "We've seen kitchen and bath design trends expand their influence across the entire home, driving new ideas and inspiration for the broader interiors industry."
NKBA first appeared at High Point Market in 2018 with educational programming for members. The association returned last October with "The Tent," hosting educational sessions led by kitchen and bath designers and manufacturers. Most recently at Spring Market, NKBA hosted a panel featuring leading designers Michel Smith Boyd and Sharon Sherman discussing emerging trends.
"This alliance with NKBA will allow us to bring kitchen and bath forward, to highlight it, and to serve the industry in new and exciting ways," said Tammy Covington, president and CEO of High Point Market Authority. "There have always been elements of kitchen and bath here in High Point, but this partnership elevates their presence."
Christi Barbour, Chair of HPMA's Board of Directors and founder of Barbour Spangle Design, emphasized the importance of integration: "As the owner of an interdisciplinary design firm, I understand the importance of integrating kitchen and bath into the High Point conversation. Having NKBA here to spotlight the opportunities in the kitchen and bath space is both exciting and a natural evolution."
The partnership reflects broader industry trends as kitchens open up to connect with living spaces and bathrooms expand beyond traditional boundaries. Kerrie Kelly, Vice Chair of NKBA's Board, noted that "designers today are shaping experiences across the entire home, and that holistic view demands collaboration between all facets of the industry."
As part of the long-term partnership, NKBA will expand its presence at Fall Market, offering research, expertise, and educational programs to the design community. The association plans to highlight new brands through elevated, immersive experiences that showcase innovations for the home, rooted in kitchen and bath but expanding beyond traditional boundaries.
