Floor360, a flooring provider based in Madison, Wisconsin, has selected Journey Mental Health Center's Yahara House program as the recipient of its tenth annual "Design for a Difference" makeover.
The volunteer-driven initiative will transform the historic mansion that houses Yahara House, bringing together interior designers, local businesses, suppliers, installers, and community volunteers to provide a comprehensive interior redesign at no cost to the organization.
"This organization does so much for the club members they serve in Madison," said Floor360 President Ryan Koechel. "We're providing a makeover that will improve the function and elevate the style in this historic mansion to increase program participation and boost organizational pride."
Yahara House Director Brad Schlough emphasized the need for updates to better serve their members. "Yahara House has some functional challenges and out-of-date features in our facility that need attention," Schlough said. "Our hope is that the members we serve will see how much they are valued, which will encourage them to participate in our programs and reach their full potential."
The 2025 makeover will follow Floor360's established timeline: nominations were collected March through April, planning begins in June, design work runs July through August, procurement occurs in September, and the makeover will take place in October.
Since launching in 2015, the Design for a Difference program has completed nine makeovers, engaging over 500 volunteers and businesses from Madison and Milwaukee. The initiative has generated more than $2.5 million in donated time, labor, and materials, impacting hundreds of thousands of individuals throughout the community. The program allows non-profit organizations to focus on their core mission while receiving professional design services and facility improvements through community collaboration.
