Interface released its 2024 Impact Report, showcasing progress in environmental sustainability and announcing an ambitious new carbon-negative strategy.
The global flooring solutions company achieved notable carbon footprint reductions across all product categories since 2019: carpet tile decreased 35%, luxury vinyl tile (LVT) dropped 46%, and nora rubber flooring fell 21%. Additionally, Interface reduced global greenhouse gas emissions by 4% compared to 2023.
"We're sharing this report in one of the most dynamic times in recent history," said CEO Laurel Hurd. "Our actions and progress show that we are staying true to who we are—a company built with purpose and without compromise."
Key 2024 achievements include launching an "all in" strategy to become a carbon-negative enterprise-wide without carbon offsets, sourcing 80% of manufacturing energy from renewable sources, and completing supplier carbon maturity assessments across the supply chain.
The company also expanded its workplace recognition, maintaining Great Place to Work certifications in six countries while adding three newly certified locations. Interface enhanced its leadership development programs and strengthened ESG governance through increased Board of Directors engagement.
The report aligns with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) standards, providing transparency into environmental footprint, recycled materials usage, and employee demographics.
