Sika Launches Two New Tile Installation Products for Contractors
Building materials leader introduces moisture guard membrane and fracture protection mat

Global building materials company Sika has expanded its tile installation product line with the launch of two new solutions designed to enhance performance and efficiency for tile contractors nationwide.
The company introduced SikaTile-150 Moisture Guard Fabric Membrane and SikaTile-250 Fracture Guard UCM, both targeting specific challenges in professional tile installations.
Waterproofing Solution for Wet Areas
SikaTile-150 Moisture Guard Fabric Membrane addresses waterproofing needs in showers, tub surrounds, walls, and other wet areas. The fabric membrane can be applied over cement backerboards or gypsum wallboards to create a reliable waterproof barrier for walls and floors.
"SikaTile-150 Moisture Guard Fabric Membrane is a valuable addition to our tile installation product line," said Tom Carroll, Senior Product Manager at Sika. "It offers contractors and installers a versatile and efficient solution to meet the specific waterproofing needs of any tile installation project."
The membrane is designed for easy cutting, installation, and adjustment, featuring pre-printed grid lines for precise alignment. It's available in 108 sq. ft. and 323 sq. ft. rolls, with corresponding accessories including seam tape, pre-formed corners, and specialized seals for drains, mixing valves, and pipe collars.
Innovative Uncoupling Mat Technology
The second product, SikaTile-250 Fracture Guard UCM, is an uncoupling mat that provides crack isolation, waterproofing, and vapor management. A key differentiator is its compatibility with polymer-modified thin-set mortars, unlike many competitive products.
The thin-profile membrane works with ceramic tile, porcelain, and natural stone installations over various substrates including oriented strand board (OSB), plywood, and concrete. Available in 323 sq. ft. and 54 sq. ft. rolls, the commercial-sized roll can replace more than 20 sheets of quarter-inch backer board.
"We recommend installing SikaTile-250 Fracture Guard UCM, and the tiling over it, with a polymer-modified thin-set mortar, which is consistent with TCNA guidelines," Carroll noted. "This helps to ensure a quality installation that meets today's industry standards."
Comprehensive System Approach
Both products integrate into Sika's Secure System, a multi-tier solution that provides enhanced warranties from a single-source supplier. The system combines elements from the company's SikaTile, SikaBond, SikaLevel, Sika MB (Moisture Barrier), and Schönox product lines to create comprehensive flooring installation solutions.
The product launches reinforce Sika's commitment to providing superior value and performance for professional tile contractors while streamlining installation processes through innovative materials and comprehensive system integration.
