January consumer spending, income increase
WASHINGTON¿ The Commerce Department recently reported that consumer spending rose 0.4% in January.
Americans' incomes increased 0.4 percent in January, the largest advance in six months.
Consumers cut spending on big-ticket goods by 2.1% in January. Consumers increased their spending by 1.2% on nondurable goods in January.
Spending on services rose by 0.5%.
Disposable incomes rose 1.6% in January. American¿s personal savings rate increased 1.8% in January.
