Deborah Adams has joined Brintons U.S. Axminster as vice president of marketing. In this newly created post, she is responsible for the development and implementation of all marketing programs to promote the sale of Brintons U.S.Axminster carpet throughout the Americas. She brings more than 25 years of experience to her new post, having held previous marketing and design positions within the industry.

The emulsion polymers business of the Dow Chemical Co. has named Cindy Elliott commercial director for the Americas. In this position, Elliott has overall responsibility for running Dow's emulsion polymers business in North and Latin America. Elliott has worked for Dow for more than 20 years. Previous to her current appointment, she served as global business director for Chelants in Dow's Industrial Chemicals Division.

Metroflor has promoted Rick Spano to vice president of sales. Previously national sales manager, Spano will seek to improve Metroflor's market share, especially in commercial areas. Spano has amassed more than 30 years of experience in the industry.

Quick-Step Inc. has appointed Jim LaBarber to the newly created position of national sales manager. In his new role, LaBarber is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Quick-Step sales force and supporting their efforts throughout the United States. LaBarber has been in the floor covering industry since the mid 1970s.

Jay Smith has been named president and chief operating officer (COO) of FloorExpo Inc. Previously, Smith was executive vice president and COO of the company. He joined the company in April 2000 as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Smith will continue to report to Dave Gheesling, FloorExpo's CEO and board chairman.
