Bostik Inc.’s Consumer & Construction Division has added David Umbarger, an experienced engineer, to its technical services team.
Umbarger brings a wealth of adhesives experience to Bostik. As technical service manager, Umbarger oversees a team that specializes in answering questions about the company’s wide array of installation and maintenance products, including ceramic, hardwood, carpet/vinyl/patch and rubber flooring solutions, as well as construction sealants.
“I lead a group that responds to all technical questions concerning our products,” Umbarger said. “We evaluate materials and how they work in specific applications - whether it’s new types of wood or substrates. We have a talented team of individuals who answer our toll-free technical line. If there is a challenging application, we are responsible for investigating all of the issues to determine and advise of proper jobsite solutions.”

A Boston-area native, Umbarger comes to Bostik with a background focused on adhesives and working with end users. Before joining the company, Umbarger worked with the Henkel Corp., where he coordinated a global team of engineers providing technical solutions to digital printing customers. Prior to Henkel, Umbarger worked as an associate engineer with Emerson and Cuming. Umbarger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Umbarger reports directly to Robert McNamara, director of marketing & sales for Bostik’s Consumer & Construction Division. McNamara says Umbarger’s previous positions helped him develop the skills and gain the knowledge he needs to succeed and excel in the technical service manager role.
