The 2012 Employee Compensation Study, co-sponsored by the North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD) and the North American Building Material Distribution Association (NBMDA), will aim to help distributors in the building materials and floor covering industries examine their pay scales and benefits programs, and benchmark them with the rest of their industry.

“The 2012 Employee Compensation Study will provide all participants with several levels of value,” said Kevin Gammonley, NBMDA executive vice president. “The results will help respondents determine where their compensation plan stands in our industry as well as compared to other distribution channels. Second, this information will provide concrete evidence for participants to prove that their compensation is ‘reasonable’ within the Internal Revenue Code. On a higher level, the overall data will help us more effectively respond to legislative proposals regarding government-mandated health and leave benefits.”

Each respondent will receive a report showing how their company’s data compares to their competitors within the building material and flooring industry and against the aggregated results of over 2,500 distributors across multiple distribution channels. To guarantee complete confidentiality of company data, responses will be sent directly to and compiled by the Profit Planning Group, an outside organization specializing in survey research.

“This is a great tool for our industry’s distributors, especially as they re-evaluate their current business models and work towards building a more profitable business,” said Michelle Miller, executive vice president of NAFCD. “NAFCD is pleased to provide this valuable resource, and we encourage all members to participate.”

The deadline for all participants to submit their completed surveys is March 15. For more information on participating in the survey or receiving a copy of the final report contactinfo@nafcd.orgorinfo@nbmda.org.
