Bologna, Italy -- Exhibition space for Cersaie 2018 sold out six months before the show opened, including the extra 5,000 square meters of the new halls, which brought total exhibition space to 161,000 square meters, according to Emilio Mussini, Confindustria Ceramica’s vice chairman.

These new halls mark the first steps in an expansion program that will see the exhibition floor expanded to 270,000 square meters by 2024. The halls are occupied by 840 ceramic tile exhibitors from 40 countries, 181 bathroom furnishing exhibitors, as well as a packed pavilion of Italian parquet producers. This year’s show has also seen the return of several major companies that had not been present for several years.

The show featured a number of advancements in marketing communications, according to Andrea Serri, Confindustria Ceramica’s head of communications. The organization launched a new website, which is being further expanded with new product and project galleries. Another new feature is the launch of the Ceramica app, designed to place all site content at users’ fingertips.

The Cersaie Evening hosted the presentation ceremony for the Confindustria Ceramica Distributor Awards 2018, assigned each year to the best distributors of Italian ceramic products in four different countries. The jury, consisting of entrepreneurs and managers from the Italian ceramic industry, decided to assign this year’s awards to outstanding distributors in Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
