Norwalk, Conn. -- The Halstead/Metroflor Addiction Crisis Team (HMAC) fundraiser honoring Harlan Stone, president and group CEO of parent company HMTX Industries, is fast approaching on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 6–9 pm at Harbor Lights in Norwalk, Conn. The evening’s tax-deductible net proceeds will support HMAC’s quest to support organizations that can provide rehabilitation through scholarships to addicts and their families, who otherwise would not be able to afford rehab programs.
Themed “The Path to Resilience,” the evening will honor Stone for his unwavering humanitarian spirit. Speakers will include social worker Michael Chiappone, representing the Hope House Ministries, where staff and volunteers are the change agents helping young people grow in self-discipline, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and personal responsibility, all of which become eroded by addiction. He will describe his personal path from addiction through redemption to sobriety with the help of Hope House. Linda Ventura will tell her story of being drawn into the war against drugs when her son died of an overdose. The loss galvanized her to establish Thomas’ Hope House in his honor, to fight for the lives of addicted youth and help families battle substance abuse disorder.
