Bentley Mills Switches to Sustainable Thrive Yarn for Commercial Carpets

Commercial carpet manufacturer Bentley Mills announced it will exclusively use Thrive yarn in its Universal Fibers' solution-dyed yarn bank, marking a significant shift toward sustainable manufacturing in the carpet industry.

The company becomes the first and only U.S. manufacturer to make this commitment, which is expected to raise the minimum recycled content in its yarn to 75% while significantly reducing its carbon footprint.

"Bentley chooses not to make its own nylon in house," said Jay Brown, president and COO of Bentley Mills. "Rather, we source and purchase from the absolute experts in the field of yarn manufacturing."

The switch to Thrive, a Type 6,6 solution-dyed nylon, has already shown environmental benefits, with some products seeing nearly 50% reduction in carbon impact. This initiative complements Bentley's existing use of Econyl from Aquafil, the world's only fully regenerated and regenerable nylon.

All Bentley carpet products are manufactured in a LEED®-EB:OM Gold-certified facility and are free from PVC, PFAS, and Red List materials. The products carry multiple environmental certifications, including Cradle to Cradle Certified™ and NSF140 certification.
