Mannington Commercial Upgrades to Sustainable Fiber Standard

Mannington Commercial has transitioned to Universal Thrive Type 6,6 fiber as the new standard across its carpet platforms. The premium-branded fiber contains 75% recycled content while maintaining the durability and performance specifications designers expect.
This upgrade complements the company's existing use of Econyl Type 6 cationic fiber, which features 100% recycled content and lower embodied carbon. Together, these high-performance fibers provide customers with greater flexibility to meet both performance requirements and sustainability goals.
"All of our carpet products are built with premium materials from the fiber down," said Richard French, president of Mannington Commercial. "This fiber upgrade is part of our continued effort to offer sustainable innovation without compromise – because we believe great design should deliver on both performance and purpose."
Mannington has historically relied on Type 6,6 nylon for its proven performance and durability. The Universal Thrive upgrade enhances this foundation with increased recycled content while delivering the same trusted results.
Unlike mill-extruded alternatives, both Thrive and ECONYL represent premium construction tiers engineered for superior appearance retention, colorfastness, and long-term performance.
"As we continuously work to reduce our carbon footprint and increase our circularity, it's not one major change – instead it's the accumulation of smart, intentional choices," said Shane Totten, vice president of sustainability for Mannington Mills.
