Mohawk Group Launches 'Believe in Better' Awards for Transformative Interior Design

Mohawk Group has announced the creation of the "Believe in Better" Awards, a program designed to recognize commercial interior design projects that demonstrate exceptional commitment to innovation, sustainability, and positive human impact.
The new awards program embodies Mohawk Group's guiding philosophy of "Believe in Better," which the company describes as more than a tagline but a fundamental commitment to pushing design boundaries while prioritizing environmental and social sustainability.
"We're excited to launch the Believe in Better Awards to spotlight the incredible ways designers are creating spaces that demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and the well-being of the people who inhabit these spaces," said Jackie Dettmar, vice president of product, design, and marketing at Mohawk Group.
The inaugural competition will honor completed projects from any commercial market segment that showcase a holistic design approach, resulting in spaces that function beautifully while serving people, places, and the planet with meaningful, lasting impact.
Projects will be recognized across four distinct categories: the Design FWD Award for leading-edge design strategies; the Handprinting Award for initiatives that go beyond reducing negative impacts to create positive environmental change; the Better Together Award for designs that promote community, inclusivity, and belonging; and the Galloway Charles Award for Creativity and Innovation, named after a visionary Mohawk Group designer.
For eligibility, projects must have been completed between 2022 and 2025 and incorporate at least one Mohawk Group or Durkan hard or soft surface product. Submissions must include a minimum of three high-resolution images that clearly showcase the Mohawk products used in the space.
Winners will receive an award trophy created by renowned designer Harry Allen, whose work appears in permanent collections at institutions including New York's Museum of Modern Art. The distinctive ceramic trophy features a spiral form representing the interconnected strands of Mohawk Group's core values: Design, Innovation, and Sustainability. It is crafted by Greenwich House Pottery in New York City.
In addition to the trophy, winners will receive travel accommodations for one team member to attend the Award Ceremony alongside their Mohawk Group Account Executive and exposure in design publications.
Entries for the inaugural "Believe in Better" Awards will close on December 31, 2025, with winners to be announced in February 2026.
