Workers from Decor Carpet One installed 1,000 square yards of Miranda V carpet made with BASF's Zeftron 2000 solution-dyed nylon fiber in the Renton Community Center in Renton, Wash.

Through the joint efforts of the city of Renton, Wash., Blue Ridge Commercial Carpet, Décor Carpet One, and BASF, the carpet that was recently replaced at the Renton Community Center is being recycled through BASF’s 6ix Again Recycling Program instead of taking up space in a local landfill.

Launched in 1994, the 6ix Again recycling program provides an ecologically sound alternative to disposing of commercial carpet in landfills. Under 6ix Again, BASF assumes responsibility for the environmentally sensitive disposal of returned 6ix Again certified carpets at the end of their useful lives.

Also, existing carpet being replaced by 6ix Again carpet is eligible for return and disposal, regardless of yarn type and construction components, from any location in North America. BASF recycles virtually all of its nylon 6 pre-consumer waste and includes recycled content in all of its Zeftron nylon and Savant yarn systems. Information on BASF’s 6ix Again recycling program is available on the Internet at www.nylon6ix.com.
